Community pride is the heartbeat of a strong, connected town. It’s found in the smiles exchanged between neighbors, the helpful volunteer hands, the groups gathered at events, and the support shown for small businesses and the school.
When people take pride in their community, they invest more than time – they invest love, responsibility and hope. It’s the sense of belonging that makes us more likely to participate in community activities and initiatives. The quality of life in a town is greater where there is a strong sense of pride.
We can practice community pride in Nevada by picking up trash in public spaces, attending community and school events, volunteering, celebrating local achievements, getting to know the local business owners, helping neighbors and strangers.
If you have an idea for a new opportunity for the community, Nevada has a great support system for encouraging ideas to grow. We’ve seen many people say “I have an idea” and leaders in the community helped them put their idea into practice.
Employers in Nevada are incredibly generous. So many community initiatives are only possible due to partnerships with the local businesses. Many of our employers even allow their staff volunteer time. That’s community pride.
What does community pride mean to you? How are you practicing this?
