2025 Award Winners

Main Street Nevada, along with Nevada Economic Development Council and The Nevada Foundation held our annual meeting November 20th, celebrating all of our  accomplishments in 2025. Our keynote speaker, Kiley Miller from Alliant Energy, encouraged us to “get loud” about where we live. We believe our organization is doing just that. Main Street Nevada celebrates all that is great about Nevada every day and is happy to be the center of positive energy for our community.

We also honored and celebrated our 2025 award winners, Kim Houston and NuCara.

This year’s recipient is involved in the background of so many organizations!! She provides advocacy and support for local school activities, church activities, and community activities, including the county fair. Whenever her employer, Burke, is involved in a voluntary activity like Pizza Pie Looza, Downtown Trick-or-Treat, or Lincoln Highway Days, she’s not only there to participate, but in most cases, she’s a leader, a connector, and a communicator. Her passion for this community shines when she advocates for many of the activities we all enjoy, but most importantly, she is a servant leader, setting an example by volunteering for activities that others lead in addition to facilitating volunteers for the organizations she leads. She is not only a leader herself, but her value is in teaching others to lead as well.

Our 2025 Harold Fawcett Community Involvement Award is presented to Kim Houston.

This year’s Ron Daehler award is being presented to a business who helped fill a void in our downtown and utilized resources from the Main Street Iowa program to do so. While retail shops had closed, this business stepped up and added more retail in their space. With guidance from Main Street Iowa’s business vitality team, they spruced up their front entrance and re-merchandised their space to attract shoppers to the retail portion of their business. While retail isn’t the basis of their business, highlighting it made a positive impact for our downtown. This business has been a staple in Nevada for a long time and their willingness to adapt and fulfill community needs demonstrates they will continue to succeed. This business has a big connection to the award name, as Mr. Daehler was a long time pharmacist and owner of this business.

The 2025 Ron Daehler Memorial Business of the Year is presented to NuCara.
