2024 Year in Review

Main Street Nevada is ending 2024 on a high note! Here are some highlights from year #5:

 

Awards:

2 Million in Private Investments, recognized by Main Street Iowa.

Business Recruitment Award, recognized by Main Street Iowa.

Open 4 Business Grant to Bluemoon Holistic from Main Street Iowa/Iowa Economic Development Authority.

 

Grant Projects Completed:

Upper story apartments in the Tipton Building, created 4 new living spaces.

The Journal Building, brought us T.E. Alderman’s restaurant.

The Camelot Theater Catalyst Grant, which was used for facade work and roof restoration.

 

Grants/Awards Given:

Marketing Grants were given to Anytime Fitness and Sweet & Savory, from our Economic Vitality Committee.

Businessperson of the Year Award was given to Peyton Klotzbach, co-owner of Sweet & Savory.

Community Involvement Award was given to Amber Olson, co-owner of MORE Team @ RE/MAX Concepts.

Contest awards were given out by the Promotions Committee to local businesses and community members.

 

In the District:

9 New Businesses opened in the downtown district.

12 New light pole banners were hung to decorate the district.

5 large events took place in the downtown district, two of which brought over 12,000 people!

A second successful year of the Farmers Market took place!

Main Street America, our National organization, visited Nevada THREE times! We even hosted the CEO!

Hosted a national Main Street conference, which brought 40 people from all over the U.S.

 

Broader Community:

Economic Vitality Committee hosted a Marketing Matters session.

Organization Committee hosted an “Our Main Street Matters” breakfast.

Our Annual Dinner with NEDC took place.

Hosted another fun golf outing fundraiser with investors.

11 Mix-N-Mingles were hosted by local businesses and organizations.

“It Takes a Village” series was created in partnership with Nevada Community Schools.

A marketing project with CyBiz has started, in partnership with NEDC.

125 Welcome Bags were delivered to new residents!

Mock-ups for the community wayfinding signs were created by our Design Committee.

Over 1,200 volunteer hours were put in!

Another Leadership Nevada class was completed, with 15 new grads and three community projects!

A youth leadership program was started, in collaboration with two other county towns.

 

95 Investors and 40 Volunteers have made all of this possible! THANK YOU for your support to our organization and our community! We look forward to more great projects and partnerships in 2025!
